Intern, Technical CommunicationsJob Description Summary:
The Technical Communications Intern in the Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Academic Programs will design and create a central communication hub and information reference source/repository for use across faculty and staff in the Academic Programs area, which houses the following divisions: Science, Engineering, and Mathematics (SEM), Liberal Arts Humanities and Communications (LAHC), Liberal Arts Social and Behavioral Sciences (LASBS), Adult Education, and International Programs.The intern will work directly with the Executive Administrative Assistant for Academic Programs and under the guidance of the AVC for Academic Programs to develop a project plan and create the structure of the hub/repository (likely a WordPress site) as well as populate the site with all relevant content. To this end, the intern will also collaborate closely with the students in a dedicated spring 2025 section of ETWR2479: Web Based Content Management Systems and the associated faculty member on the project, ensuring their related coursework is grounded in the needs of the AVC and implemented into the final product(s).
Potential related projects include the development of an AVC for Academic Programs communication methodology and consistent mechanisms/mediums, development of graphics/images, and overall support for Academic Programs communications.
Job Description:
Duties & Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Research, write, and iterate on a project plan for the development of the website.
Create the website in WordPress or another comparable and sustainable site.
Train the Executive Administrative Assistant for Academic Programs on how to maintain the site to ensure content currency and long-term utility.
Draft and edit general communications/messages, as needed.
Design and/or collaborate closely with design colleagues on visual concepts and graphics for the website and related communication mechanisms/mediums.
Identify opportunities for process improvements related to communication and information sharing and contribute to the development and maintenance of best practices.
Skills

Required Education
Currently enrolled student at Austin Community College.
High school diploma or educational equivalent; current GPA 2.8 and above.
