General Description: Provides direct nursing care as part of a team-based approach to patients needing rapid evaluation and response due to deteriorating or crisis conditions.

- The Rapid Response RN utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) to delegate, coordinate and provide safe, therapeutic nursing care to patients/families.
- This individual makes independent judgments/decisions and takes action regarding a wide range of routine and complex patient issues, operating under guidelines of the Rapid Response Team.
- The Rapid Response RN collaborates with appropriate disciplines to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission through discharge in support of the medical and nursing plans of care.
- The Rapid Response RN acts to support adult inpatient care needs within the facility. This includes the care of critically ill patients and transport from an inpatient unit to the ICU. The RN responds as Code Blue Nurse, promoting effective team interactions, patient assessment, ACLS interventions and complete/accurate documentation.
- The Rapid Response Nurse responds to and assists with stroke alerts, assisting with plan of care and CT initiation.
- The Rapid Response RN will conduct sepsis surveillance and work in collaboration with the medical and hospital staff to provide multidisciplinary care to the suspected or confirmed septic patient. Monitors compliance with the sepsis screening process on all nursing units. - The Rapid Response RN also functions as an educator as it relates to ACLS, sepsis, and early sepsis recognition.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate from an accredited school school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years relevant critical care experience required. Preferred five (5) years of experience as a Critical Care Registered Nurse.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. ACLS (American Heart Association) required upon hire. Preferred CCRN Certification within 1 year.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Computer skills. Skills required to work in critical care area required.
