We are seeking one enthusiastic and motivated ARPA Outreach & Communications Intern with Yakima County Financial Services to support our team with the creation of a forward-facing webpage to inform Yakima County constituents about how the county has utilized the $48 million ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) grant. This internship provides hands-on experience and an opportunity to develop valuable skills in project management, outreach, and communications.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies that occur within 90 days of the closing of this position. (This excludes Yakima County Sheriff's Office and Department of Corrections)

Program Dates: Tuesday, June 17, 2025 through Friday, August 8, 2025

Job Responsibilities:
Webpage Creation
- Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining the county's ARPA webpage.
Ensure the web page is user-friendly, visually appealing, and accessible to a broad audience.
Create an easy to update webpage with new content, photos, and testimonials from local businesses and government officials.
Content Creation and Management:
Write clear, concise, and engaging content that explains how ARPA funding has been utilized across the county.
Collect and organize project details from the 65 funded contracts, ensuring accurate representation of the initiatives.
Coordinate the collection of pictures, videos, and testimonials from local businesses, small enterprises, and government entities that received ARPA funding.
Community Outreach and Engagement:
Reach out to small business owners, local government representatives, and community organizations for feedback, stories, and testimonials about the ARPA-funded projects.
Data Organization and Reporting:
Compile data on ARPA-funded projects, ensuring that each project is represented accurately on the website.
Track feedback and interactions from constituents to help measure the effectiveness of the website and communications strategies.
Create periodic reports on the progress of web page updates and outreach activities.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited college program in relevant field:

Web Design/Development Experience (preferred, but not required):
Basic understanding or experience with web design and development platforms (e.g., Civic Plus, WordPress, Wix, HTML/CSS, or similar tools).

Working Conditions:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
