Job Summary

The KBR UH-60V Program Team is searching for applicants in Huntsville, AL to join our team to learn technical writing and XML coding under the supervision of a senior technical writer.  In this role, the successful applicant will report directly to the UH-60V Program Manager and be responsible for applying the knowledge and experience acquired with Army products and publications to ensure conformance with applicable MIL standards and Army Regulations to bring added value to our critical Army customers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Researches, organizes, writes, edits and produces data for use in a wide variety of complex technical publications
  • Applies department editing standards and styles
  • Creates compliant hardware, software, and airframe Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), Technical Manuals (TMs) and Modification Work Orders (MWOs) from commercial data and other DoD sources to include technical drawings and logistics databases
  • Interprets engineering drawings to create technical instructions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled or recent graduate in an applicable technical field such as technical writing, engineering, industrial maintenance, etc.  Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail
  • Ability to learn how to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to learn how to use eXtensible Markup Language (XML) in UltraEdit or Arbortext editing software for Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) or page based Technical Manuals
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-starter and self-motivated.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Located in Huntsville, AL

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Military or DoD experience
  • College or work event planning/participation
