About the opportunity
The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for a Nurse Unit Coordinator - Anaesthesia based at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Camperdown. The role will be responsible for providing support for clinical teaching and professional nursing assistance with clinical cases. In addition, the Nurse Unit Coordinator is involved with the management, delegation of responsibilities and coordination of nurses within their service.
Your key responsibilities will include:
coordinate nursing staff and provides leadership within the service
support student learning
provide overall care for animals in the respective service
support the client journey for patients in our care
undertake ad-hoc projects and activities.
The small animal service at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camperdown (UVTHS) offers:
a first opinion general practice
a small animal specialist veterinary practice for the management of a wide range of medical, surgical and emergent problems
second opinion service.
As well as providing gold standard patient care, UVTHS provides an invaluable teaching experience for our final year veterinary students and residents to prepare them for their careers. In this role, you will work closely with Specialists, residents and interns in all fields in veterinary medicine.

About you

a Veterinary Nursing Certificate IV and/or advanced veterinary nursing experience in a small animal veterinary hospital environment
At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role in the relevant service
the ability to communicate with academics, veterinary professionals, and veterinary students
demonstrated ability to cope with general practice caseloads in a busy working environment
demonstrated ability to explain nursing procedures to colleagues
relevant knowledge of animal care and handling
demonstrated experience with using technical and medical surgical equipment and training in anesthesia, radiography, and drug dispensing.
