Job Summary

The CHOC Trauma Nurse Manager (TNM) will work in collaboration with the Physician Trauma Program Director to assure optimal patient care and outcomes for patient's traumatic injuries that are brought to CHOC Children's Hospital Orange. The TNM will help assure CHOC's compliance with all California and Orange County Emergency Medical Services regulations and policies. The TNM will reach out to and provide education for physician and clinical staff at CHOC, other hospitals and the community. The TNM will provide management, oversight and leadership to staff assigned to the Trauma Center. Positions include but are not limited to: Trauma Registrar, Trauma Lead Nurses and Community Educator.

Pay Range

Minimum $140,504 Midpoint $186,181 Maximum $231,837

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

Required: Minimum seven (7) years of RN experience and five (5) years experience in Trauma Care and/or Emergency Department and/or Trauma Surgery. At least one (1) year experience in educating clinical personnel and/or physicians.

Preferred: Experience in community education and outreach. Experience in new program development.

Required: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Preferred: Masters of Science degree in Nursing or Nurse Practitioner Certificate

Training

Required: Management of Assaultive Behavior certification required within 3 months of hire. Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) & Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) to have or obtain within 6 months of hire Advance Trauma Course Nursing (ATCN) can also be accepted in lieu of TNCC.

Preferred: Instructor credentials in Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC), and ACLS CPEN.

Specialized Skills

Required: Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards; care with sensitivity and respect; advance care through development of new ideas and technology; promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's missions; and understand and exceed customer expectations. Working knowledge of Trauma Care both inside and outside CHOC and the regulations that govern trauma care at the California State and Orange County levels. Use of this knowledge to ensure all policies and regulations are adhered to by CHOC. Manage assigned staff in a manner compliant with CHOC Policies and Procedures and values. Abilities to educate both on a medical/clinical level and also to lay community members. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary groups that include physicians, nurses and other clinical personnel, prehospital care providers, local government officials and administration and staff of other healthcare facilities.

Licensure

Required: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Advance Trauma Course RN (ATCN) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) , Basic Life Support (BLS), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Trauma Certified RN TCRN), or Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN), Drivers License - Class C, Emergency Pediatric Nursing Course (ENPC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Registered Nurse-California.
