This site manufactures the energetic components involved in escape systems for military and commercial aircraft.  Hundreds of pilots owe their lives to the reliability of the products that we produce.

We are seeking a Material Engineering Intern, primarily responsible for updating specifications components used in energetic materials, and providing technical support within the company.  The intern could be involved in failure investigations, incident investigations, process hazard analysis, review of practices involving safe handling of explosives, manufacturing support, testing of energetic materials, test method development, and ingredient acceptance testing. This role is hybrid, with the site location being in Fairfield, California.

What You Will Do:

  • You will develop and update drawing specifications for materials used in energetic assemblies.
  • You will identify appropriate technical specifications to apply to materials and chemicals used in manufacturing processes.
  • You will create/modify manufacturing documents and drawings needed to support internal and contractual requirements.
  • You will comply with all requirements for safety, quality, and secure handling of technical information.
  • You will monitor and report the status of all projects to management.

  • You will learn to be an observer of the many safeguards that are to assure the reliability and safety of man-rated explosive devices.
  • Team members are trained to record and share all lessons learned in order to continually expand our knowledge of the materials and processes.
  • Depending on the changing workload, you could be involved in failure investigations, incident investigations, process hazard analysis, review of practices involving safe handling of explosives, manufacturing support, testing of energetic materials, test method development, and ingredient acceptance testing.

  • Knowledge of material science or chemistry
  • Self-motivated and ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Experience with CAD software a plus
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong verbal and written skills.
