ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with developing, coordinating, overseeing, and implementation of clinical nutrition strategic initiatives, projects, survey management, trainings, best practices, resources, and procedural guidelines in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations governing skilled nursing centers, and as may be directed by leadership. - Assists with implementation and maintenance of an ongoing quality assurance program for nutritional services and management. This includes reports, audits, evaluations, etc.
- Follows knowledge of current industry trends, evidence based practice recommendations, professional standards, and regulatory guidance. Maintains appropriate credentials and continuing education.
- Participates in Dining and Nutrition strategic planning meetings. Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, financial plans regarding dining and nutritional services, and other collaborative efforts of the organization.
- Provides communication with leadership and other regional support routinely and as needed regarding nutritional services and management, skilled nursing center opportunities or needs, and outcomes.
- Provides input and guidance to skilled nursing center leadership and physicians regarding nutritional services and management. This includes participating in center surveys and assisting with reviewing and providing recommendations for a plan of correction for dining and nutritional services.
- Provides onsite skilled nursing center visits to provide service and support for food service managers related to nutritional services and management. This includes review of patient clinical nutrition documentation, outcomes, and delivery of nutritional services with meal service.
- Assists in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of the skilled nursing center food service manager, clinical nutrition manager, and center level dietitians.
- Assists in determining the staffing levels necessary to meet the needs, and standardizing nutritional services and management tasks.
- Assists with developing and implementation of center orientation and competency related to nutritional services and management.
- Assists with interpretation of procedural guidelines to skilled nursing center associates, patients, visitors, and regulatory agencies.
- Recommends any equipment and supply needs as needed.
- Assists with guidance related to kitchen operations as needed.
- Provides education as needed to center associates, patients, and families.
- Visits patients, provides documentation for patients related to medical nutrition therapy, makes patient recommendations as needed to physicians, communicates with skilled nursing center regarding patient needs or opportunities, and makes menu changes or recommendations based on nutritional or diet needs.
- Promotes the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication.
- Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
- Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of long-term care and institutional management and administration.
- Extensive knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and registered dietitian standards of practice.
- Extensive knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing patient care and treatment and related services or activities
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, department heads, administrators, health services leadership and their teams, patients and families, and the general public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor Degree in Dietetics and registered by the Commission of Dietetic Registration.
- Licensed as a Registered Dietitian in the State of Georgia.
