We look forward to hearing from you!

The Vallejo Irvine Professional Development Program (VIP) focuses on providing professional development opportunities to all Mines students, an important part of the university’s MINES@150 campaign priorities and strategic plan. The program will supplement students’ rigorous technical education and experiences with professional skills, making students even more distinctive and prepared for the workforce upon graduation. The program was established through a generous gift from Mines alumni Fran Vallejo ’87 and Scott Irvine ’87.

During this 9-week on-campus internship, VIP interns will assist in curriculum development, event planning and programming, and professional development research.  VIP interns will work independently and in teams to focus on various projects for VIP and the Career Center. Interns will also be provided with professional development opportunities such as attending professional conferences and participating in career readiness programming.

Internship dates run from June 2, 2025 to August 1, 2025. Any interested undergraduate students are encouraged to apply, but priority will be given to candidates who are fully available through these dates. We are hoping to fill TWO positions for this opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist VIP program leadership in the planning and development of calendar of events for the 2025-26 academic year. This will include:
Seek opportunities for VIP to host workshops with campus partners (e.g. classrooms, student organization meetings, etc.).
Research and develop potential workshops on current and/or relevant professional development topics.
Manage newsletter campaigns and grow engagement on Instagram and LinkedIn through consistent, strategic weekly posts.
Audit current VIP resources available to the Mines community and seeking opportunities to innovate and enhance user-end experience.
Interns will support program administrators in evaluating and refining VIP Professional Development signature events.
Identify subject matter experts, both internally and externally, to present and share expertise. Interns will assist in communicating with identified experts to potentially assist as VIP Professional Development featured speakers.
Assist with lesson plan development and create appropriate documentation for facilitators and/or guest speakers.
Provide additional project assistance to both VIP and the Career Center.
Interns will be expected to attend the GlobalMindEd conference and complete the Career Launch Academy program through the Career Center.
Other duties as assigned.
