Job Description

Air Liquide Laboratories is one of the main R&D centers of the Air Liquide group. Its goal is to develop new and innovative solutions for the entire Air Liquide group. Air Liquide Laboratories is located at Innovation Campus Tokyo, inaugurated in March 2019. The new facility promotes collaboration with customers, start-up companies and academic partners. It gathers researchers and workers from all around the world in order to promote a multicultural work environment and skills diversity. The Campus develops the latest thin film deposition and etching technologies for applications in electronics, batteries and fuel cells, as well as strategies and solutions for the entire supply chain, production, purification, storage, transportation and distribution of low carbon hydrogen.

At Air Liquide, we are developing custom masks designed for individual patients to ensure comfortable and safe use for patients with conditions such as sleep apnea syndrome. As part of this effort, we are working on developing an algorithm that performs image processing from patient facial images to design masks. We are looking for an intern to assist in this development.

Tasks and responsibilities: Tasks would include but are not limited to the following:

• Design and develop mobile and web applications for CPAP patients.

• Apply machine learning and AI principles to enhance algorithm accuracy and explore potential app functionalities, such as personalized therapy recommendations or remote monitoring.

• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, patients, and software development teams to gather requirements, and ensure seamless integration of solutions.

• Translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly language for application development.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to mask fitting algorithms and application development.

• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in machine learning, AI, and healthcare technology.

• Contribute to the documentation and validation of developed algorithms and applications.

Must required qualifications

 

• English Business level

• Proficiency in algorithm development, ideally with experience in image processing or facial recognition, specifically within the healthcare sector.

• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and frameworks like Angular.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including healthcare professionals, patients, and software developers.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and address challenges in mask fitting app development.

Optional qualifications but highly desirable

• Understanding of sleep apnea and related respiratory conditions.

• Ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly language.

• Working knowledge of medical equipment, particularly CPAP machines, their functionalities, and their use in sleep apnea treatment.

Duration:

The duration is negotiable, with a minimum of 6 months.
