Job Description

GSK is currently looking for an Occupational Health Nurse to join our team in Upper Merion, PA. In this role provide clinical occupational health nursing services including vaccinations and phlebotomy services and travel health when needed – location specific. Engage in emergency management for acute injuries including referrals and reporting to Stakeholders including Environmental Safety Services, disability management, workers compensation and Federal OSHA standards.  Compliance and accountability for surveillance programs related to employee health in the pharmaceutical industry in research and development and manufacturing areas. Autonomy to provide an appropriate level of care and collaboration with larger team of multi-specialty areas in a pharmaceutical industry using advanced communication skills and technology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver independent high quality clinical nursing services in the pharmaceutical environment with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders including other RN’s, Nurse Practitioners, Lead Physician, Security, Environmental Safety services, management, and employees. Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team -environment using technological resources. Microsoft Products (TEAMS, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Specific nursing skills include assessments and management of both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses and emergency medical response in accordance with OH Work Instructions and Medical Directives. Participates and supports emergency response team and trainings. (site specific)
  • Manage and deliver compliant and detail-oriented health surveillance processes in-line with site specific workflows, standardized work Instructions, medical directives, and OSHA regulatory requirements. Knowledge and experience with occupational medicine is preferred.
  • Meet deadlines and perform evaluations of site risk assessments in conjunction with industrial hygiene to determine health-based risks and necessary employee monitoring surveillances.
  • Support employees with filing Workers Compensation claims for work related illness and injury including clear communications with claims managers and work instructions on process to employee. Ability to multi-task and navigate process with commitment to understand GSK processes.
  • Liaises with Environmental health services as a medical consultant to assist with employee incident and illness treatments and investigation. Participate in meetings/communications to assist with identification of actual and potential trends to ensure resolution of unsafe conditions. Participates in workplace ergonomic assessments with various stakeholder to identify risks and develop ergonomic solution recommendations.  
  • Administer vaccinations in compliance with CDC requirements and schedule based on employee needs for travel and/or environmental protection.  
  • Deliver preventive health initiatives in collaboration with GSK benefits and OH partners. This includes personal health education, health promotion, health fairs, health screenings and safety training on selected occupational safety topics.  
  • Assist with disability management referrals and employee accommodation approvals as an iterative process with employees, managers, human resources, legal and specific medical needs to accommodate employee while also meeting business demands. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • 5+ of clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • One year of occupational health experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.
  • Decision making in clinical service delivery is complex.
  • A demonstrated ability to provide high quality clinical services is critical.
  • Knowledge of specific clinical issues around occupational health is preferred.
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse certification.
  • BLS Certification/Unrestricted PA RN License  
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word/Excel/TEAMS/OneNote  
  • Phlebotomy skills needed
  • Emergency Management Experience
