GENERAL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Coordinator. This position is primarily Mon-Fri, 7 am to 3 pm, but it may require flexibility as the project requires. The Quality Assurance Intern will support the startup of line 11 oven and related packaging assets. This position will primarily involve data collection and analysis to support the commissioning of the new production lines. This position will conduct routine tasks as well as support various responsibilities within the Quality Assurance Department.  25 – 40 hours per week is expected.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
Support commissioning and qualification of new goldfish packaging assets. May include (but not limited to) data collection of salt %, breakage of crackers, measurement of seasoning application, and verification of bucket scale delivery. Some basic data analysis and reporting will be required. Organoleptic evaluation of packaged crackers, proper packaging seal closure, and sticker application accuracy will also be evaluated.
Support commissioning and qualification of line 11 goldfish oven. May include (but not limited to) data collection of dough moisture, weight of crackers, salt %, bulk density, length of crackers, oil %, and moisture of finished product. Some basic data analysis and reporting will be required.
Support a bake validation of line 11 goldfish oven. Involves measuring temperature, water activity, and moisture of goldfish throughout the bake process to verify lethality.
Replicate the bake validation study on the other active ovens.
Other continuous improvement projects as time allows.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:  

High School Diploma or GED and/or 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment required.  
Incoming college junior or senior in food science, microbiology, chemistry, biology, or other science field
Must have knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). A lot of data collection will be required for this position.
Able to be on feet 4-8 hours a day as needed
Comfortable learning and working with instrumentation (e.g. to measure salt of a cracker)
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
Strong interpersonal skills are required


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.


Compensation and Benefits:
The starting rate for this full-time, hourly position is $19.75.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
