University Hospitals East is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The Registered Nurse-Patient Care Coordinator (RN-PCC) functions as an integral member of a team of care providers within the department, who reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The Department of Perioperative Services is located on the fourth floor, North Wing, and on the second floor, North Wing. The 4th floor area consists of 10 operating rooms, Pre-Op, and PACU areas. The 2nd floor area consists of 4 operating rooms, and combined Pre-Op/PACU area.
The operating room is staffed Monday through Friday 5:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. for primarily adult patients requiring surgical intervention. Care is provided by Registered Nurses and Surgical Technologists. A Registered Nurse is directly responsible for the care of each patient in the operating room and is the circulator for each surgical procedure. Surgical procedure care is provided after hours through on-call coverage.
Position Summary
The RN-PCC is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising the other members of the patient care team. They are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the nursing care of patients. The RN-PCC prioritizes patient care needs and provides leadership and development of the patient care team. The staff nurse must be competent in technical, interpersonal and cognitive skills required to serve the patient population defined by the scope of service.

For Hire:
Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing. Current Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Previous nursing experience in a relevant care setting preferred.
On going:
Maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols. Maintains current Ohio RN license. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements.
