Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Respiratory Care Assistant – 1st year.
As a Respiratory Care Assistant – 1st year at MercyOne, you will be Under limited supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist, the respiratory care student is responsible for providing basic respiratory care such as oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy with and without medications, chest physiotherapy, hyperinflation therapy, and EKG measurement to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy, objectives, standards of care, and procedures of Respiratory Care Services. Students may only perform those skills that are outlined in the Respiratory Care Student skill roster.

General Requirements:
- Performs basic respiratory therapy procedures under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist in accordance with evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Consults with and assists physicians and nurses with respiratory care plan for patients and facilitates the implementation of physician orders.
- Assess patients and evaluates appropriateness and quality of respiratory care of individual patients for the purpose of making necessary modifications and adjustments of care plan and equipment use.
- Reviews, collects, and evaluates relevant clinical data.
Education:
- Must be enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program with current participation in respiratory classes and clinical rotations.
- Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
