Hearing Screener, Mother/Baby

Shift: Part-time, Days

Job Description:

• Performs hearing screens on newborns and provides education to parents pertaining to the relevance of hearing screening and early intervention. Supports the unit as needed.
• Competently performs and documents basic care and screening of newborn/infant.
  • Performs hearing screens on newborns in the parent’s room (unless Conditions do not permit)
  • Performs outpatient hearing screens when required.
  • Follows established guidelines for security and identification of infants.
  • Provides educational information and literature regarding the importance of early intervention and prevention of hearing loss to the parent or guardian.

  • Enters Hearing Screen data into the KY Child database with accuracy and in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates proficiency in computer entry.
• Accurately enters Hearing Screen data into the KY Child database and any unit specific databases.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:

• High school diploma/GED

• SRNA license, or obtain within 6 months from hire

• Current BCLS training
• Life Support Training or certification [BLS]
