Job Description

The Fetal Cardiology Program, which includes specialists from the Heart Center and The Chicago Institute for Fetal Health, ensures that families expecting a new baby with heart concerns receive the best diagnostic and counseling care available. The Fetal RN Coordinator works closely with our families, Chicago Institute for Fetal Health, CICU and Fetal Cardiologists to determine appropriate care plans and further testing, as well as follows the patients throughout pregnancy and post-birth.

Job Duties:

  • Manage prenatal fetal care (testing, counseling, interdisciplinary team meetings, transfer of care appointments) for acute and non-acute fetal cardiology patients  
  • Assists in coordinating procedures including amniocentesis and maternal hyperoxygenation studies  
  • Work with large group of referring providers to ensure all consultation notes and test results are received by patient's entire maternal fetal team 
  • Manage and upkeep a pending delivery list for patients who have anticipated postnatal cardiology needs
  • Assist in triaging screening fetal echocardiograms to ensure timely and clinically appropriate timing of screening fetal echoes  
  • Monitor all fetal echocardiograms that are done at all locations to ensure all prenatal and postnatal needs are met
  • Attend counseling sessions and be main point of contact for questions, concerns and communications for all fetal cardiology patients 
  • Attend high risk deliveries to facilitate communication between OBGYN team and Lurie team members  
  • Participate in data collection and analysis for research projects lead by fetal cardiologist team members  
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A BSN degree from an accredited School of Nursing is required.  A master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing is preferred.  
  • Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Illinois is required.  
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant clinical experience, preferably in case management. 
  • The ability to effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, social agencies, school personnel and community resources.  
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to effectively manage multiple competing responsibilities.
  • Previous successful experience in new program development, coordination, and marketing. 
  • High level of initiative and autonomy.
  • Proficient in a variety of computer programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and working knowledge of EPIC.

Pay Range

$83,200.00-$137,280.00 Salary
