Job Description
2. Provides therapy to families and children seen in outpatient child psychiatry, the partial hospitalization program, the inpatient psychiatric unit, and through the consultation/liaison service. Assists, when available for on-call, with any emergency situation of a psychological nature that is brought to Lurie Children’s, in particular via child psychiatry.
3. Provides psychological testing of children and adolescents, including intellectual and projective tests.
4. Writes letters, notes, and formal clinical reports on client contacts. Communicates progress over the telephone as appropriate.
5. Attends school and community meetings as appropriate to meet patient care needs.
6. Participates in formal multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment staffings by providing psychological expertise.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
8. Engages in research in areas related to children and their families.
9. Attends seminars as outlined in the training brochure for the internship in clinical child/pediatric psychology at Lurie Children’s.
10. Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
1. Minimum education required to perform job: Has completed all requirements necessary for eligibility for an APA approved internship in child psychology. Readiness for internship must be formally certified by the academic training director.
2. Special physical requirements: Sits and stands through the day.
3. Must be able to physically restrain aggressive children.
