Job Description

Brookfield’s Capital Markets & Treasury Team in New York is responsible for the strategy and execution of financial risk management initiatives across Brookfield globally. This includes managing currency and interest rate risks arising within our investments or the investment vehicles that we invest through. We work in close collaboration with global investment teams, capital markets teams, and senior management at each of our investment platforms.

Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our dynamic team. As a Summer Intern, you will work with members of the Capital Markets & Treasury team to gain exposure to the multiple facets of our business and contribute to meaningful projects that impact our organization. 

  • Duration: 10 weeks (June-August)
  • Location: 250 Vesey St, New York, 12F
  • Hours: Full-time, in person, Monday-Friday

Responsibilities:

  • Support the team with trade booking, portfolio maintenance and monitoring for a global portfolio of FX and interest rate derivatives.
  • Liaise with external trade counterparties and internal finance and operations teams on trade related issues
  • Participate in hedging strategy and pipeline discussions and assist with related market analysis/updates, research projects, and presentation development
  • Perform special projects related to hedging strategies and Treasury system optimization

Qualifications:

  • Rising junior currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Math, or other related majors, with a strong GPA (preferably having completed a course in derivatives)
  • Interest in asset management and financial markets
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and Data Analytics (Power BI/Tableau/SQL/Python)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with great attention to detail
  • Excellent presentational and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast-paced and team-oriented environment
