operate hospital power plant equipment to provide power and light in a safe and comfortable manner.  Assures proper operation and maintenance of boilers, air conditioning, exhaust fans, vacuum and circulating pumps.

  • Operates, repairs, prepares for inspection, tests, and chemically treats boilers to maintain safe, correct, efficient operating condition according to established standards and procedures.
  • Operates, repairs, tests, and chemically treats chiller systems to maintain safe, correct, efficient operating condition according to established standards and procedures.
  • Has knowledge, skills, and ability to accomplish most tasks in the areas of plumbing, welding, HVAC, install and adjust thermostats and pressure controls.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and replace HVAC system components, including pumps, motors, traps, valves, regulators, etc., alone and with assistance. Ensures all electrical feeds to equipment are connected correctly, in proper phase and verify proper voltage and amperages required.

Schedule:

  • PRN
  • Hours will vary according to department need, days or night shift, may include weekends and holidays.
  • Training will occur on days, but once trained will include some nights weekends and holiday coverage.

General Requirements:

  • Must maintain a 1st class City of Sioux City, IA. Hydronic Engineer's license or be able to obtain within 4 months of employment.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, presentation skills, advanced analytical skills, be well organized and maintain a highly professional manner and appearance.
  • Strong interpersonal, consultative and relationship building skills to initiate and develop productive collaborative partnership with all levels of leadership across the organization.  Ability to effectively influence results, garner support and tactfully manage complex relationships within and across the organization.  Extremely high level of diplomacy and tact are required.  Ability to read the subtle nuances of situation and react/plan accordingly.

Education:

  • High School/GED required.
