Job Summary

Reports to the Mass General Hospital Director of Emergency Preparedness (EP), with oversight and support from the MGB Chief Preparedness and Continuity Officer, the Vice President of Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity and other key entity and system leaders. The Department of Emergency Preparedness and Continuity (DEPC) intern assists in and supports planning and coordinating activities for the local Emergency Preparedness program and enterprise initiatives.

Qualifications

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides support for Emergency Preparedness projects and initiatives.
  • Attends and supports Emergency Preparedness Committee and other committee meetings.
  • Prepares agendas and minutes and contributes to discussions.
  • Supports development of Emergency Operation Plans and Hazard Vulnerability Analysis.
  • Assists in development of after action reports for exercises and events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent required
  • Interest in Emergency Management, healthcare administration, and public health


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive/non-public information.
  • May have the opportunity to report to MGB hospitals outside of normal business hours to manage events that require emergency management.
  • Must be available to work on site at assigned hospital.

  • This is an onsite internship at Mass General Hospital with one day every other week at Newton-Welleslley Hosptial
