Overview

Applied Material’s Global Trade department is seeking a Global Trade Operations Intern to provide support to US Trade Management Team on a variety of issues related to US export compliance and restricted-party screening. The person in this role will manage many aspects of Applied restricted party screening program, perform customer and vendor research, communicate results, maintain records, and perform other work needed to support this critical compliance function.

This person will work closely with managers and directors, as well as business partners in finance, legal, etc. implement and improve screening processes.

Key Responsibilities

Perform red flag internal reviews of  customers and vendors.

Coordinate third party reviews, analyze and summarize results, and present red flags to Trade managers and directors.

Perform daily export compliance screening and restricted/denied party checks.

Provide daily SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) Sanction Party List screening support: pull reports, monitor escalations and release blocks

Work with different internal groups, including Order Management, Customer Master Team and Legal Department on requirements and testing for implementing a new process of screening an authenticating a customer

Provide support for the  implementation of new screening requirements for potentially high-risk customers

Assist in providing training to members of the Global Trade team and other departments in support of Sanctioned Party list screening

Conduct screening audits, identify gaps and work with management to close those gaps

Assist with other facets of Applied’s export compliance program as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Pursuing Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, or Finance

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in relevant field: International business, supply chain or finance

1-2 years of work experience involving export compliance

Shows passion for learning and developing/applying new processes

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to make decisions without all the details, evaluate outcomes and manage change in a dynamic environment

Results oriented, with the ability to work independently, managing priorities and complex workload
