Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated, state-of-the-art medical campus that includes Diagnostic Centers, Outpatient Surgery and a 24-hour Emergency Department. Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. 

The Surgery Center at Martin North houses a small, close-knit family of caregivers dedicated to providing exceptional care. Because this unit is so tight, healthcare staff pride themselves in their ability to work together, doing whatever is necessary to improve outcomes and quality of life. As an RN, you will collaborate with fellow nurses and the Pharmacy, Radiology and Anesthesia Teams to enhance the patient experience, from initial intake to final send-off. This position offers a great opportunity to join a supportive environment while developing your skills as a nurse. 

A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00AM – 12:30PM or 8:00AM – 4:30PM. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care. 
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.  
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.  
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments. 
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 
  • Educate patients and their families.   

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • A minimum of one year of RN experience in acute care or emergency department.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing 
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
