Overview:

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse in the Main Operating Room for a Full Time, Day shift position in Charlottesville, VA. This position has required call.

Sentara Martha Jefferson Main OR:

Performing an average of 7,000 cases each year, the Operating Room at SMJH has 8 OR suites and offers a variety of service lines including Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. It is also the 2nd highest-performing OR in the Sentara system for Orthopedic total joint procedures.

This position offers 8- and 10-hour schedules with required call. The call schedule is 1 day per week and one weekend per month from 7P to 7A.

Education

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• Registered nursing License (Required)

• ACLS required within 1 year of hire.

• PALS within 1 year of hire.

• BLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience

Scrub and circulator experience in an OR.

•  Candidates who have completed a PeriOp 101 program.

• Candidates who have previous Operating Room Experience

• Manages complex cases in fast-paced environments

• Communication with patients and providers

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
