Overview:

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the PACU- Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This is a part time, day shift position in Charlottesville, VA. The schedule will be 20-30 hours per week, 10-hour shifts and required call.

Sign on bonus of $7500.00 available for qualified candidates.

PACU: The Post- Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nursing Staff are responsible for observing and treating post-operative patients from a variety of service lines including Radiology, Endoscopy, General surgery, Urology, Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. PACU is a 12-bed unit with a 1 to 2 nursing to patient ratio. Normal operating hours are 730AM to 930PM Monday to Friday with designated overnight and weekend call staff to mitigate call shift burden. One Friday overnight call shift every 6 to 8 weeks. One 24-hour holiday call shift per year. Call requirements are subject to unit needs and may require occasional additional hours. 

Education

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• Registered nursing License (Required)

• ACLS required within 90 days of hire.

• PALS required within 1 year of hire

• BLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience

• 1-2 years of experience (Preferred)

• Critical care experience in hospital required

• Manages complex cases in fast-paced environments

• Communication with patients and providers

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
