Summary

To coordinate the care for the oncology patient, their family and/or caregiver across the continuum, overcoming health care barriers, providing a comprehensive assessment and facilitating timely referrals for appointments to the multidisciplinary oncology team.
This nurse will be responsible for navigating all patients who are referred to the cancer center from consult/diagnosis, staging/radiology work up, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and survivorship.

Registered Nurse – Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure in North Carolina as a registered nurse of compact state licensure.

Three years of experience in oncology and/or case working required.

Must hold current certification (or within 2 years of hire date) as one of the following:

·         Oncology Certified Nurse

·         Oncology Nurse Navigator – Certified Generalist

 

Abilities required.:

Knowledge of oncology care and management

Knowledge of disease management

Requires problem solving, decision making, and critical skills thinking.

Knowledge of performance improvement processes

Physical strength, occasional assistance with assisting patients

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Effective organizational skills

Effective leadership skills

Computer literate
