The 5M Neuro Medical/Surgical Unit cares for patients with varying neurological needs. As an RN, this department offers a great environment in which to learn and strengthen your skills in IVs, NGTs, cardiac drops and stroke care, preparing you for a higher level of care in the ICU, CCU or ED. You can also pursue involvement in the Nurse Practice Council or Professional Congress to further engulf yourself in the welcoming culture at Cleveland Clinic.

A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM — 7:30AM.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care. 
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.  
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.  
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments. 
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 
  • Educate patients and their families.   

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing 
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 
  • One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
