As a Bariatric Clinical Coordinator at Stuart Family Health Center, you will facilitate the assessment, planning, organization, direction and evaluation of program activities related to the comprehensive care of Bariatric populations. Working alongside fellow nurses, physicians and other caregivers, you will create a welcoming, well-equipped and inviting environment for all assigned patients and their loved ones. In this role, you can use your passion for providing exceptional support by helping each person feel valued, educated, informed and empowered throughout procedures and ongoing treatment. All the while, you can explore the various resources offered through Cleveland Clinic, including additional certifications, training, committee involvement and more. 

A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM - 4:30PM or 8:30AM - 5:00PM. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:   

  • Facilitate the assessment, planning, organization, direction and evaluation of program related activities. 
  • Interact with patient and family and involve them in the development of the plan of care. 
  • Conduct daily patient visits to ensure quality and provide support as needed. 
  • Coordinate and oversee patient care activities of Bariatric patients. 
  • Conduct patient rounds and facilitate discharge planning as necessary. 
  • Collaborate with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop policies and procedures and standards of care for the Bariatric patient. 
  • Ensure Bariatric patient care standards and resource manual is kept updated. 
  • Intervenes to ensure adequate coordination of care throughout the organization. 
  • Provide hospital staff with in-services/seminars and participate in general orientation of new employees. 
  • Perform as a clinical resource for Bariatric patient care. 
  • Perform data collection and report appropriate information/statistics in a timely manner. 
  • Monitor and update Clinical Pathway in conjunction with physicians and other members of the Interdisciplinary team. 
  • Ensure timely ordering and completion of diagnostic testing. 
  • Monitor various departments to ensure staff competency is achieved and maintained for all participating in the care of the Bariatric patient. 
  • Provides patient and staff education related to care of the Bariatric patient. 
  • Monitor equipment available to accommodate Bariatric patients. 
  • Assist in cost containment through appropriate ordering and use of supplies and equipment. 
  • Analyze and evaluate performance improvement data to promote positive patient outcomes and a safe work/care environment for staff and patients. 
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings to optimize communication and patient care. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) 
  • Three years of medical/surgical experience 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • Bariatric Nurse Certification

Physical Requirements:

  • The position requires a considerate amount of physical work not to exceed 50 pounds.
  • Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance.
  • The individual will be required to pull up or re-position patients in bed, lift supplies, place equipment or supports, and push beds throughout the hospital.
  • The individual must be able to bend over to perform certain duties such as check chest tube drainage, check urine output, etc.
  • The individual must be able to quickly maneuver throughout halls, stairways and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies.
  • Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. In the event there is a need to evacuate the building, heavy lifting will be required to carry patients to safety.
  • Mental Demands: Manage stress appropriately; handle multiple priorities, able to multitask; Able to make decisions under pressure; work independently; anger and conflict management skills; able to work in crowded/confined areas.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
