Why This Role Matters

The successful candidate would provide day-to-day support to the Post-War & Contemporary Art Department in London, supporting the Sale Coordinators and assisting Cataloguers and Junior Specialists with preparation of cataloguing, hilling and pricing sessions, in addition to general every day tasks.
 

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Support the team in the day-to-day running of the Department

  • Maintain library so it remains organised/ re-shelving any books that are left out at the end of each day

  • Assist senior team members in researching property for sale, valuations and pricing sessions

  • Conduct in-depth research on works which will be offered in the upcoming sales, sometimes involving off-site visits to external libraries in London (British Library, V&A Library and Tate Library etc)

  • Assist with proposals, where appropriate and the writing of auction catalogue notes

  • Prepare factsheets, images and lot cards for all sale lots

  • Respond to image and factsheet requests, assist specialist team and client requests during sale week

  • Liaison with internal departments, including Proposals, Reprints and Valuations

  • Responsible for collecting and distributing post daily, arranging couriers, sending out catalogues

  • Maintain stock of stationery supplies in the Department

  • Liaise with IT to resolve any issues with office equipment, maintain printers and paper stock

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Interest/knowledge of Post-War & Contemporary Art required

  • Strong organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication

  • Language skills (fluent in English), French, German and Italian desirable

  • Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail

  • Good research and writing skills, experience with Research Libraries is desirable

  • Good team worker and willingness to help out when needed

  • Hard working

  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

  • Ability to demonstrate client facing experience

  • Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (mainly Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
