As a vital member of the Pharmacy Team, the Pharmacy Technician assists and supports the Pharmacists by helping to provide accurate, efficient, timely, and personalized pharmaceutical care to our patients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must complete CPhT within one (1) year of hire if not already certified
  • Must complete the SJRMC structured on-the-job didactic and experiential IV compounding training with competency evaluation through demonstration and testing within one (1) year
  • Must register with the New Mexico State Board of Pharmacy within ten (10) days of date of hire if not already registered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPhT certification
  • Experience in Sterile Preparations Compounding
  • Hospital pharmacy experience
  • Good math skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Cooperative

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drug distribution
  • Sterile preparations compounding
  • Order entry
  • Charging
  • Filling employee prescriptions
  • Clerical functions
  • Assists pharmacists and other colleagues
  • Department liaison/ambassador
  • Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:

                                                     Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship

  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:

  • Subject to hazardous drug exposure (i.e., antineoplastics, antibiotics, anesthetic vapors)
  • Subject to lifting twenty-five (25) pounds
  • Standing or walking for most of shift
