Job Description

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This job provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of acute psychiatric patients, in addition to assessing human responses and plans, implements and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families for whom the nurse is responsible. The provider is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed clinician and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered. 
 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides individual, group and family therapy with assigned patients. (20%)
  • Conducts an individual comprehensive evaluation for assigned patients. (20%)
  • Completes all documentation according to regulatory requirements (e.g. treatment plans, progress notes). (20%)
  • Provides clinical and administrative support to physicians, including prescription refills, scheduling, prior authorizations and patient follow up. (20%)
  • Assesses patient reports/records change of condition and notifies physician and/or supervisor and intervenes appropriately and documents accordingly. (10%)
  • Assists with consultation and referrals from external providers and organizations. (5%)
  • Delivers education to internal providers, external providers and organizations. (5%)
  • Other duties as required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, Family Therapy or other Behavioral Health Fields (Must be obtained within six month of hire)
  • Completed RN training program and have PA RN licensure or have applied for practice permit
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) or other Behavioral Specialist license (Must be received within 6 months of hire)
  • 1 year in a Social Work, LPC, or Family Therapy role
  • 1 year as a Registered Nurse
  • Clinical knowledge of prescription refills, authorizations and completing disability paperwork

  • Knowledge of the relationship between medical and psychological aspects of health and disease
  • Experience in use of evidence based counseling techniques, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of common mental health and substance abuse disorders
  • Clinical competencies including nursing assessments, administering injections, triaging patient requests
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
