SUMMARY:
As a Registered Nurse Level IV, you will leverage your clinical expertise and leadership skills to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to fellow team members, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of care on the unit.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Clifton Springs Hospital is a 6-bed, intensive care unit specializing in complex medical, post-surgical and critical care. We provide exceptional, patient-centered care to a diverse patient population with a primary focus on medical and critical care making our unit a dynamic and rewarding environment for nurses and healthcare professionals seeking to advance their clinical skills.

The Intensive Care Unit offers a unique, fast-paced setting that enables nurses to develop and strengthen expertise in complex medical and critical care. Diverse and High-Acuity Patient Population

Our ICU provides care to patients with a variety of medical, post-surgical conditions and critical care conditions including:

Complex wound care patients, including those with wound vacs, pressure ulcers, and post-surgical wounds, allowing our team to develop advanced wound management expertise.

  • Complex Respiratory patients, including those requiring CPAP/BiPAP, chronic tracheostomy care, and high-flow oxygen therapy to meet complex oxygenation needs
  • Post-surgical recovery for vascular surgery patients
  • Complex wound care patients, including those with wound vacs, pressure ulcers, and post-surgical wounds, allowing our team to develop advanced wound management expertise.
  • Palliative and hospice care patients, where our team provides compassionate end-of-life care and support.
  • Patients undergoing drug and alcohol withdrawal, carefully monitored using the CIWA protocol until they are stable for discharge to rehabilitation programs.

This position is part of the Registered Nurse Level IV (Clinical Nurse IV) role and requires the following to be completed within 12 months of employment:

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Clifton Springs Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

SCHEDULE: Day/Evening/Night - Every other weekend / holiday

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assessment. Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family
  • Planning & Implementation. Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and family
  • Evaluation & Education. Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities 
  • Training. Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters

EDUCATION:

BS: Nursing (Required)

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: 

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
