Overview
Works under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator and the Practice Manager and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non-professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with age related needs of the specific patient populations served in nursing unit. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health system and facility goals and strategic plans.

What you will do

• Collaborates with members of healthcare team to implement treatment specific to plan of care/physician orders, order clarification, and patient status, Ensures patient comfort and answers patient questions related to treatment, educating patients on what to expect with treatment/ start process.
• Performs catheter access & care (peripheral IVs, port-a-caths, heparin locks, vitals/assessments, medication administration, blood draws), Displays proficient knowledge of infusion pumps
• Administers treatments and medications accurately and documents in electronic medical record, Assesses and performs treatment protocols for medications being administered, Evaluates patients during treatment to identify treatment tolerance and/or signs of reaction, Reviews lab results pertaining to therapy plan.
• Cleans and disinfects patient care areas. Assists in maintaining medical inventory and supplies

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred) or
• Associates Degree, Nursing (Preferred) or
• Program Graduate, Nursing (Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma) (Required) and
• High School Diploma or GED, HS Diploma/GED only required if Nursing Diploma Graduate (Required)

Licenses and Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state  Upon Hire(Required) and
• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
