Job Description

Responsible for assessing the nursing needs and initiating appropriate intervention for patients in unit/clinic. Responsible for prioritizing testing and assigning of technicians.

• Provides professional nursing care to patients of all ages pre- and post- procedure/surgery.
• Uses the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care provided to individuals.
• Actively accepts, understands and practices appropriate standards of nursing.
• Actively supports the mission, vision and values of the hospital and department.
• Performs various activities related to the needs of adult and geriatric patients in accordance with the hospital/clinics established policies and procedures.
• Provides leadership in maintaining standards of care and direction of health care personnel.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director or providers that does not compromise moral code or put patients or employees at risk. 

Direct Reports (supervised positions)

• Patient Care Assistants
• Medical Assistants
• Radiologic Technologists, as allowed by scope

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Alabama registered nurse license.
• ACLS certified within six (6) months of hire

Minimum Education Preferred

• Current ACLS certification

Minimum Experience Required

• One (1) year of professional nursing experience

Minimum Experience Preferred

• One (1) year of physician practice experience

Required Skills/Abilities

• Previous nursing experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to communicate effectively in an emergency situation.
