Principal duties and responsibilities:
1. Insert peripheral I.V. catheters and access Port-a-Cath on scheduled infusion days.
2. Evaluate, verify, and prepare IV medications; monitor patients' vital signs continuously during infusions.
3. Respond to Patient Gateway messages and patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
4. Process medication refill requests accurately and efficiently.
5. Assess patient health status and perform timely telephone triage in consultation with physicians.
6. Assist with prior authorizations by coordinating with specialty pharmacies and insurance payors for patient medications.
7. Schedule and manage patient appointments efficiently.
8. Complete various medical and administrative documents, including FMLA forms, VNA paperwork, and patient correspondence.
9. Perform venipuncture for blood draws and ensure proper sample handling.
10. Collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare team members to ensure high-quality patient care.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned by manager or per departmental needs.
12. Demonstrate a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and workflows.
13. Support clinical research studies and related tasks, as needed.
14. Maintain professional competencies and participate in ongoing staff development and training.
Skills:
1. Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
2. Exceptional organizational skills, flexibility to manage multiple tasks, and attention to detail
3. Knowledge of computer applications necessary to function in an ambulatory setting (EPIC EMR)
4. Phlebotomy, IV, port access experience preferred but will train
5. Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
6. Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
7. Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
8. Knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications
Education
Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
