You will lead a team of RNs, LPNs, and MAs in managing patients who are presently diagnosed with and undergoing treatment for active TB Disease. We Require

  • Two years of Registered Nurse experience in a community, public health setting or experience in acute pulmonary or infectious disease
  • A valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or issued by another state recognized by the Arizona Board of Nursing as a compact license state
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing
  • Must secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card and complete a background check
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver’s license by the time of hire
  • Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test

We Also Value

  • Three or more years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in an outpatient, home care, public health environment, or infectious or pulmonary disease.
  • Experience working with patients from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds, including the unhoused population
  • Experience providing medical and treatment for tuberculosis to patients with infectious diseases or substance abuse
  • Experience working as a Registered Nurse in a lead or supervisory capacity
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).

Job Contributions

  • Maintain an active load of patients by providing communication, medical care, interdisciplinary coordination, and support to the patient
  • Provide direction and leadership to RNs, LPNs, and MAs related to the provision of medical care, treatment of patients, and Contact Investigation
  • Provide guidance and expert knowledge about Tuberculosis Contact Investigation processes and guidelines
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of medical record documentation personally and by RNs, LPNs, and MAs
  • Direct the workflow, assign work duties and tasks, and oversee the day-to-day case management of patients in the Tuberculosis clinic
  • Propose and implement work-process changes for efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy
  • Provide recommendations and guidance for appropriate case management in alignment with CDC Domestic Medical Screening Clinical Guidelines and patient continuity of care
  • Work positively and cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team of nurses, medical assistants, local resettlement agencies, and providers

Working Conditions

Work occurs in a clinical setting, including exam rooms, phlebotomy and sputum stations, and offices. The daily routine will involve sitting, standing, and walking between various areas in the building. Travel will be required to complete field work. Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency. You will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment when working with infectious diseases.
