Summary

The Student Diagnostic Technologist, under direct supervision of a Registered Technologist, performs Diagnostic procedures for which competency status has been achieved.

Education and Formal Training:

Currently enrolled in a Radiology Technology Training Program in a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved school. Must have completed all exam competencies for program. BLS Certified.  Trained in the treatment, care of patients of all ages to include neo-natal, newborns, pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Work Experience:

Must have completed at least 18 months of clinical training through a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved school program for Radiology Technology.  If applying for our Critical Access Hospital, must have completed at least 10 months of clinical training (senior student) through a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved school program for Radiology Technology.

Demonstrates technical skills required.  Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills.  Verbal and written skills required.  Demonstrates good patient care.  Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups.  Provides care based on the patient’s developmental needs.  Experienced in the treatment of and interacts effectively with patients of all ages to include neo-natal, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to communicate orally.  Must have manual dexterity and visual acuity.  Must have mobility to assume awkward positions.  Must have mobility to respond to emergency situations.  Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.  Must be able to bend and lift. Must be able to bend and have the ability to lift 100 lbs/ carry objects up to 50 lbs. Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
