Performs nursing functions and consumer care at a Therapeutic Facility Based Crisis Center including assessment, care and treatment of consumers at the facility; must adhere to standards of care as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and RHA. This position relies on knowledge, experience and judgment with limited supervision and direction to provide quality services to crisis facility consumers.

Compensation: Depending on experience

Our ideal Registered Nurse has excellent listening and communication skills, can pick up on nonverbal communication and is eager to work on nonstandard nursing assignments. This position is a member of a team that provides support, services, and treatments necessary to provide integrated care to consumers with intellectual/developmental disability and co-occurring complex behavioral and/or mental health needs. Provides oversight and general nursing care and services to people in a facility-based crisis/non-hospital detox setting. All consumers are voluntary. No physical or chemical restraints. The average length of stay of consumers is 5-7 days.

Job Responsibilities

· Utilize your skills and expertise, current nursing assessment skills and knowledge of nursing principles to assess and monitor consumers with intellectual/developmental disability and co-occurring complex behavioral and/or mental health needs.

· Responding to crises on a timely basis in a therapeutic setting, as needed.

· Comply with Controlled Substances policy and procedures in maintaining accurate inventories and controlled logs, following appropriate guidelines for investigation of discrepancies.

· Monitor consumers and take appropriate action for side effects and adverse reactions to medications.

· Complete QA activities as requested and participate in the QA process.

· Communicate effectively and collaborate with multi-disciplinary team.

· Provide training for both internal and external stakeholders (some training to include nutrition and medication education).

· On-call availability

Education, Licensure, and Experience required for the position include:

· Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing, with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.

· Must meet the education, experience, licensure/certification requirements specified by the service definition of the service being provided

· Prefer one year of nursing experience.

· Nursing experience of consumers with intellectual disabilities and/or behavior and/or mental health needs.

· Some college training and/or management experience is helpful.

· Valid driver’s license (this is a condition of employment) including personal vehicle insurance coverage.

· Must maintain proficiency in company sponsored training and certifications and privileging if required.

  • Drug testing
  • Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required)
  • Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
