Job Summary:
Visits patients, assesses their needs, interacts with families and other hospital staff for the good of the patient. Facilitates chapel services. Responds to all codes and crisis calls.Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Visits patients, families and staff. Prepares daily census sheets for the department.
- Prepares for chapel services.
- Coordinates all sacramental/liturgical ministry within the hospital and documents what is necessary.
- Refers patients, families, and staff to chaplains, priests and ministers, as needed.
- Sends sympathy cards to families of deceased patients.
- Participates in and plans for memorial services.
- Responds to all codes.
- Covers on call shifts as assigned.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
EXPERIENCE
- One year of pastoral experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
