Health Quality and Stars (HQS) is an organization that is responsible for improving health outcomes and advancing the care experience of our members and provider partners through quality solutions. HQS is committed to caring for our customers and delivering high plan quality as rated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The CMS Stars quality rating system evaluates Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans using approximately 40 measures covering preventive care screenings, health condition management, health outcomes, patient experience, and plan operations.
The Health Quality and Stars Intern will assist in various projects aimed at improving our understanding and implementation of the CMS Star Ratings system. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in healthcare, quality improvement, and data analysis.
This is an in-person internship in Louisville, KY and will require in-office work.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in data collection and analysis related to CMS Star Ratings.
Support the team in monitoring and reporting on program performance metrics.
Participate in meetings and contribute to discussions regarding program strategies and improvements.
Help prepare documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
Conduct research on best practices related to CMS Star Ratings and healthcare quality metrics.

Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Health Sciences, or related degree
Available to start in June 2025 and work through August 2025 for 40 hours per week
Must be located in Louisville, KY and able to go into the Louisville office
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Must not require sponsorship to work in the U.S. now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications
Have a strong academic history, with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA being desired
Be actively involved on-campus and/or in the community

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
