The Activities Aide supports the activities director with the day to day functions of the activities department. Assists with day trips, crafts, etc. Provides clerical support to the long term care department.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Makes all preparations for each activity
Makes sure that all equipment is cleaned and put away after each activity
Decorates the unit for seasonal and special events

Keeps daily activity documentation records on all residents, recording accurately, thoroughly and consistently
Communicates the needs of residents/patients, equipment, scheduling and any other pertinent information to the Activities Director and/or Director of Nursing by verbal, written or other acceptable communication
Reports deviations from planned activities and events to the Activities Director
Assists with any restorative programs as directed by the Restorative Nursing Coordinator.
Acts a liaison between the Nursing Department and the Activities Department
Facilitates in a timely and efficient manner group programs as assigned in accordance with the group program plan
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants will be evaluated through a pre-employment Physical Therapy Back School and Body Mechanics Screen test. Below is a list of the specific tasks and the strength requirements necessary to perform the tasks.
Leg Lift ….. 80 lbs. Torso Lift …… 30 lbs. Over Head Lift …… 30 lbs. Near Waist …… 65 lbs. Push Out ……. 26 lbs. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high and low frequencies.
See as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision. Frequently stoop and bend. Communicate effectively. Able to withstand stressful situations and deal effectively with them. Able to lift and move residents/patients using proper body mechanics.
Ability to withstand high stress situations.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
One year experience working in a long term care facility or adult day care center, or a medical surgical environment with the geriatric populace is desirable.
